Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U)
Simply put, if you’re undetectable, then you cannot transmit the virus.

New biomedical advancements in HIV prevention and treatment has brought us closer than ever to ending this decades-long epidemic.
We now have scientific proof that people who adhere to antiretroviral therapy and reach an undetectable viral load cannot transmit the virus to their sexual partners -- even when condoms are not used.
Simply put, if you’re undetectable, then you cannot transmit the virus. If we are to triumph over stigma, then we must choose facts over fear.
HRC Joins National U=U HIV Task Force
We’re proud to announce that we have officially joined the U=U National HIV Task Force which is dedicated to advancing better policy and education for the 1.2 million Americans living with HIV. Two simple letters of U=U is how we’re going to make ending the HIV epidemic a reality.
